Morning Song Pattern
This is probably the most favourite thing of mine that I’ve made so far…
I enjoyed the slow, contemplative process of tacking the fine Liberty Tana Lawn hexagons over the paper templates, and when I had made enough, I really loved the arranging of the colours – almost like a jigsaw puzzle in a sort of colourwash that ebbed and flowed. The stitching them together with fine Aurifil neutral thread was a slower process, and finally, I bonded the birds and bough into place, and stitched them down with a fine straight machine stitch. The peace and tranquility and the colours were inspired by my allotment site on a light, bright morning, and this piece of handicraft won me first prize in its section at the Annual Show – I have a silver cup to prove it!
