Fabulous Retreats in Norfolk!
I’ve found a gorgeous bed and breakfast in Norfolk called The Vines, and thought what a perfect and peaceful location to host a brand new series of Sunflower Fabrics Retreats.

Each Retreat will follow a similar format; ie arrival on Friday afternoon from 2.30, departure on the Sunday afternoon, 2.30.
The Retreats will each have a different theme, which you may dip in and out of as you please; sometimes people just like to get away and use a weekend opportunity to finish something that’s been on the back burner for too long - and relax! The tuition is for any level; we will be a small group of no more than six or seven, so there will be lots of individual attention to meet everyone’s differing needs; absolute beginners are more than welcome, so don’t be shy!
Each Retreat will be taught by myself, and the fee for your weekend away is £295.00. We require your deposit of £150.00 at point of booking, and regard it as your intent to come. Places are few and we will not be able to refund your deposit if you are unable to join us. We would take the balance two weeks before the Friday arrival date.
Please click on the Link to Leigh and Kevin’s The Vines website to book, and to have a look at the lovely accommodation they offer in their beautiful home. The £295.00 covers the cost of your accommodation, your tuition, breakfast, lunch and evening meal. All home cooked by your hosts and myself. Dinner will be served in the Cabin, and the sewing room will be available if you want to sew away into the night!
List of Retreats for 2010 - 2011
Whimsical Log Cabin
Friday, October 22nd – Sunday, October 24th, 2010
This is a variation on a beautiful and traditional block called Log Cabin. The centre is started with a four-patch, and the logs are of variable width to make an asymmetrical block which is squared up on the tilt. Very quirky and interesting. We will look at other variations on the theme.
Scraps and Stars
Friday, November 12th – Sunday, November 14th, 2010

Whip up a galaxy of scrappy stars and stir them into a truly original little star quilt – or make several smaller pieces. You could turn your blocks into something Christmassy – or not. You can have a go at paper foundation piecing for a really accurate finish.
Christmas Treats
Friday, December 10th – Sunday, December 12th, 2010
How lovely to step off the Christmas treadmill and take a breather from the hustle! Come and make a beautiful Christmas table runner and matching bunting to decorate your dining room. If you’re a quick worker I’ve got some lovely ideas for Christmas stockings and gift bags as well.
Quilty Pleasures!
Friday, January 7th – Sunday 9th, 2011
Come and make pretty little gifts for friends, home and loved ones using patchwork and quilting and appliqué techniques. Christmas and New Year have come and gone, and this can be a grey dull time of the year. You could go home with a clutch of goodies, depending how fast you are! Ideas on offer will be: - a quick baby quilt, lavender hearts to scent your drawers(!) lavender sachets of various designs,
Heart and Home Quilt
Friday, February 11th – Sunday 13th February , 2011

What could be more romantic than a heart theme for this weekend, so near to Valentine’s Day? The quilt is a very stylish combination of Bondaweb machine appliqué, and simple machine piecing. You can aim to finish a smaller piece, or go for a larger one and finish it off at home.
Mile a Minute!
Friday, March 18th – Sunday 20th, 2011

Have Scrap Box will travel! This pattern is designed to use up all your leftover strippy bits and bobs – and a good few of mine – to make a lovely vibrant quirky quilt. I will bring my scrap box for everyone to share and dip into, swapping encouraged!
